Voila le Bob! On November 10th we had another ultrasound. I was a fabulous 7 weeks and a few days pregnant, and the little peanut you see before you in the ultrasound snapshot measured 8 weeks long. Wait. What???
Up until the 7th week, Bob had measured just about exactly correct for his or her age. So to suddenly see him jump four days in growth was a little disconcerting. I wasn't worried that it meant something was wrong though. No no. I had something else to worry about. Because you see guys, although I was a perfect 7 lb + ounce baby, SANDY was a monstrous 9 1/2 lb cannonball. His mom had to have a caesarian because he was too gigantic to fit out the normal way.
I stared at the measurement in pure horror. Then I turned to Dr. G, and I said; "Well Dr. G. You better start sharpening your scalpels now." If this baby is 9+ lbs there's no WAY it's being delivered by me. I'm not a very big person, you guys. I mean, I'm pretty much perfectly average for an American woman, in terms of height, and my weight is spot on, but my hips are lacking that certain something that says, "lovely big birth canal! easy birth!" In short, the Lady Sybil Ramkin and I have absolutely nothing in common except for the urge to occasionally say things like, "you're going to have tapioca tonight dear, because it needs eating up." Well...and I would totally breed swamp dragons, if they existed.
The trend of growth exceeding expectations has continued, I might add. Bob has consistently measured a week older than his or her actual age ever since that 7 week ultrasound. And trust me, y'all. I'm not wrong about the conception date. Bob's just one seriously husky fetus.

Oh dear. Come move up to 8200'! Up here, we've got the opposite problem: babies usually come early and underweight. Which is FINE by me ...
If he's tracking a week ahead over time you have nothing to worry about. But if at 3 months he's 2 weeks ahead and 4 months it's 2 wks ahead, 6 mo 3 wks ahead, *then* you'll have to push a lot harder. Also, the hip width you can see is not the path the baby takes to get out. Your doc will tell you if there's a problem. Some people prefer C-Sections...
I prefer c-sections. I had three and I can't imagine squeezing out a 9 lb cannonball from a 4 oz orifice, but that's just me. Congrats on spawning!! I think it may be my turn next, it I survive the Scucca. I am going to to see if I can finally get a girl at some point before my ovaries mummify into shoe leather...
