At the moment, I'm 15 weeks and change along. Which brings me to the point behind the title of this post.
I'm waiting to quicken.
Between 16 and 18 weeks I'm supposed to feel the first feather-light touches of movement within my belly. Based on the last two ultrasounds, B.O.B.* is all up in my uterus, head-banging and thrashing his arms and legs around like he's at his very own private Metallica concert. But at the moment, his punches and kicks are too puny for me to feel them. Within the next three weeks however; they will evidently gain in strength until I will be able to sense them, although I may confuse them with gas bubbles moving through my intestines.
Ah, pregnancy. It's magical, no?
Anyway, the moment when I first feel B.O.B. give my uterus wall a serious thumping, is known as "quickening."
Am I alone in wishing that whoever came up with that little name had first consulted the annals of fantasy and science fiction?
I just hope it doesn't happen in public. This sort of thing is very hard to explain to bystanders.
*B.O.B. - Baby On Board. We got tired of calling the baby "it", "Zygote," "fetus," "Embryo", etc. And not knowing the sex, there's not a lot else you can do but give it a horribly cheesy nickname until you wait for it to display the goods.

Don't freak out if you don't feel it by 18 weeks! With my second, I didn't feel it until 20, and then I didn't feel it every day.
Due to technical issues, this may appear as a duplicate comment. My apologies.
I called my 18 month old goddaughter Lentil and my 8 week old godson Turtle (and used his name as the theme for his surprise baby shower). I still occasionally resort to their in-utero nicknames which I use with a great deal of affection and love.
Just tell them it's like force lightning.
